On Saturday 1st September 2018, for the third year in a row Nick McAvoy, Head of Technology & Systems, Scottish Pacific, along with 650 Firefighters from Australia, New Zealand, America, Canada and many other countries will “step up to fight depression, PTSD and suicide” by climbing the 28 floors of Crown Metropol Hotel wearing 25kgs of turnout gear and breathing apparatus.
Nick’s challenge will be different this year, usually he has been dressed in the full Breathing Apparatus used for structural firefighting, read more here.
This year, to entice more members of the fire brigade to join him, he is doing the stair climb dressed as the CFA mascot – Captain Koala!
The Firefighter’s Charity Fund aims to raise $700,000 this year and we are sure Nick will do his best to set a challenge for himself to raise a record amount which of course will be matched dollar for dollar from Scottish Pacific.
